Le Cure<\/a> was co-founded by our Managing Director, Tony Butler<\/a>, and raises money to support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, based at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
<\/b>
It has funded a number of Research Fellowships to carry out innovative research to help beat cancer faster.\u00a0 Le Cure<\/a> is based around a gruelling four day cycle event in the French Alps, taking in some of the most famous and toughest climbs of the Tour de France. Peter Freeman<\/a><\/strong> and Nick Ransley<\/strong><\/a> have participanted and we have been joined by many others from across the mining industry.<\/p>

The Royal Marsden is a leading hospital worldwide for treating a wide range of cancers, with over 50,000 patients treated each year, and a world class research centre. Over 300 patients are treated on Phase 1 drug trials every year.<\/p>

As the understanding of cancer has grown it has become clear that there is no single magic bullet for cancer.\u00a0 There are many different types and sub-types of cancer, all with individual characteristics, so the importance of targeted, even personalised, treatments is becoming more evident.\u00a0 As breakthroughs are made, so the need for greater funding grows to enable more research and more clinical trials.<\/p>

Le Cure<\/a>\u00a0has raised over \u00a32.8 million and created seven\u00a0Le Cure<\/a> research fellowships. Among other things, our fellowships have successfully identified the DNA of mutating cancer tumours in patients’ blood enabling cancer to be detected in simple blood tests, which has the potential to\u00a0revolutionize\u00a0the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer globally.<\/p>

Le Cure<\/a> is entirely volunteer run. Every penny raised goes directly to fund the cancer research programmes chosen by our scientific committee.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
